sketching out the next painting - The new exhibition at Chalk Gallery

I painted Chalk Gallery about 3 years ago. It has had a transformation and there are many new artists there .. so it is time to paint it again.
We often have special events at the gallery, and we spill out on to the front in nice weather...so that is what I am going for here. will try to add a few more of the current artists, too.

Finished in Fleet Street

All done and off to the framer!
I had fun with this one, with all the twiddly brick and plasterwork. Also included Boris Johnson, Mary Queen of Scots and Samuel Pepys...

New Baby card for a friend

I seem to be chopping and changing at the moment, so many different things on the go. A bit of a diversion from Fleet Street to paint a new arrival today.
Back to painting the pub tomorrow...

The King(s) and Keys of Fleet Street

I spotted this lovely building in Fleet Street a couple of years ago. the shape and detail was wonderful, and I even liked the minty green colour. However, the mexican restaurant underneath was pretty bland. On closer inspection of the plasterwork I spotted the name "the kings and keys". A google search soon showed up the pub that had been there for over a hundred years, and I knew I could paint it.
a few journalist characters, a Boris bike, and the queen from next door were thrown in for good measure.

frisbee dogs

I have been working on a range of things over the last couple of weeks. I have just finished a house portrait, complete with dogs joining in a frisbee game! (detail here)
Going back in time now to draw some of Simon de Montfort's men on the way to the Battle of Lewes!
