Plans and painting The Treasury, Lewes

sketched in my book, planning colours

all drawn out
first layers of dirty paint!

All done "once I was loved"

have a peep in the window

The Treasury at the top of the High Street in Lewes has always intrigued me. A window full of curiosities, covered with cobwebs and dead flies, never appearing to change or ever be open for business!
I decided to paint this for the February hang at Chalk Gallery. Curiouser and curiouser, the shop opened for the four afternoons I was working on the painting! I didn't go in...prefering to leave the inside to my imagination.
I wonder if it will open up again?

The family run Funeral Services

Here are a couple of images of another Lewes business, Richard Green and his family Funeral Services. Pets included!

Illustrations for a new book

Since painting Avant Garde earlier in January, I have been concentrating on illustrations for a new book that will be published very soon, to coincide with the anniversary of the Magna Carta.

From a mole's perspective! All will be revealed, very soon. Hope to have all the illustrations finished by the end of this week. watch this space!
